VISAS
Anybody intending to work in China must obtain a work visa, category F or Z, usually before entering the country. EF handles all your visa applications, but when you are required to fill out forms you must be clear that you are applying for a working visa and that you intend to work for EF English First. Please check your papers carefully before submitting them and likewise, check your visa before leaving your country of residence. On some occasions, you may be asked to obtain a tourist L visa through your local Chinese embassy or consulate. Sometimes because a teacher may be requested to leave for China immediately, this is the fastest alternative. Upon arrival in China, the EF school will arrange a working visa for the teacher. If you are
unclear about anything, please do not hesitate to contact EF for further information.
MONEY
The PRC uses RMB or Yuan for currency, familiarly referred to as ??kwai??￡¤. The exchange rate is around
15 to the pound (UK), 8 to the dollar (US). The exchange rate doesn??￡¤t move much. It is not possible to buy RMB outside China, and it should not be carried out of the
country. Credit cards are becoming more common in China, but cash remains the preferred form of payment. You can access funds from your home accounts using Cirrus and Visa Plus ATM cards
in Bank of China machines.
